Netflix announces price hikes: Profits plummet after charging accounts separately

Netflix has started raising subscription prices in some territories. The streaming platform announced in its latest reports that it gained a substantial 5.1 million subscribers between July and September.

This was both good and bad news for the company, as it beat forecasts but was the smallest increase in the past year.

In Japan, there have been increases in subscription prices in the past month, as have parts of Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Increases are also underway in Italy and Spain. The UK saw its last rise in subscription prices in 2023, but the standard ad-free plan has not changed from 2022.
