WHAT DO YOU NEED TO KNOW?

Hong Kong consists of four regions: HONG KONG, KOWLOON, NEW TERRITORIES and 200 other islands. They speak Cantonese, Chinese and English.

Accommodation for 7 nights is about 600 USD for a four-star hotel, and the room is no more than 14 square meters. There are also cheaper hostels, but very crowded. It is expensive, because it is the region with the highest population density in the world, with the most expensive houses and the most skyscrapers. Due to the lack of space, they exploited every square centimeter, so the accommodation prices are high.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN HONG KONG?

- explore the city on foot, with the metro, buses or double-decker trams, called Ding Ding . They have a well-developed transport system. You buy an Octopus Card, it costs about 10 USD, and you can travel quietly on any means of transport or you can pay at restaurants or shopping, if you put enough money on it. You can take it directly from the airport.

– Sit on the shore, in Portul Victoria, at sunset, to see the light show of the skyscrapers.

- Cross the bay in a boat with red sails, just like in the action movies with Jackie Chan.

- Take the funicular and climb the sloping hills to the mountain called "The Peak", from where you can admire the city from above, at 360 degrees.

- Lose a few hours in the "Ladies Market" , not necessarily for shopping, there are more local fakes: clothes, wallpaper with Chinese letters, fans with fire dragons, etc., but to see the hustle and bustle of the city and realize it the size of this metropolis.

- Walk on the Alley of Stars, a kind of Hollywood of Asia, where the statue of Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee are located.

- Take your camera with you everywhere and make sure it has a full battery. Hong Kong is the place where you can fill your photo card in just half a day.

- Try street food with confidence! If you don't want to go to a restaurant, where it's a bit more "pricey", there are shops, small taverns and supermarkets everywhere, where you can get snacks or even cooked food. Their street food is fabulous!

- Taste the local drink, yellow like a juice, found at any market. It's a kind of bamboo tuica, which numbs your senses instantly.

- If you also came for shopping, this is the right place to change your wardrobe. There are luxurious malls, where the creations of Asian designers, especially Japanese, are exhibited, but also accessible stores with real discounts.

– The humidity! In August, the humidity frequently exceeds 90 percent. You have the feeling that, in the sauna, it is colder than outside. At nine in the morning, your shirt is already wet. So, take a lot of t-shirts, have a change in your backpack, sunscreen, and when you feel like you're running out of air, cool off in the first mall with air conditioning. It would be best to visit the metropolis between the months of October and February.

– If you want hiking, surprisingly, Hong Kong offers you plenty! Go to Ngong Ping 360, and take the gondola with the glass floor, over the South China Sea to Lantau Island, where the Po Lin Monastery and the huge bronze Buddha statue are located. It is 34 meters high and weighs 250 tons. At the top, be patient: you have to climb 240 steps.

- Cramping! Don't be surprised, because they have imposing buildings, vertically, that make you think of generous spaces, in reality, the houses are small. Over 7 million people live on almost 1,100 square kilometers.

– If you think the hotel room is suffocating, take a subway to Montane Mansion, the favorite place of Instagrammers from all over the world, and take photos of the thin and tall blocks of flats in the suburbs, built since the sky is no longer visible. In the room of only 5 square meters, whole families live. Until the 90s, it was the most populated place in the world.
