The center of the turbine nave is 185 meters (607 ft) high, equivalent to a 63-storey building, while the diameter of the rotor blades exceeds 310 meters (1017 ft).
The wind turbine can generate 100 GWh of energy every year with an average wind of 10 m (32 ft) / second. That would power about 55,000 homes. A single such turbine could reduce carbon emissions by 80,000 tonnes, according to the DEC.
In June, DEC installed an 18 MW offshore wind turbine, which supplies nearly 36,000 households, according to the company.
Another Chinese wind turbine manufacturer, Mingyang Smart Energy, has installed a turbine in Hainan. According to Mingyang, the turbine is designed to be installed globally in regions with medium to high wind speeds, being particularly suitable for typhoon-prone areas.
