Iran bans pagers, walkie-talkies on board aircraft / IDF asked residents of southern Lebanon to evacuate

On Saturday, the Israeli army ordered residents of 23 villages in southern Lebanon to evacuate to areas north of the Awali River, which flows through the western Bekaa valley and empties into the Mediterranean.

The IDF claims the Iran-backed group uses the areas to hide weapons and launch attacks against Israel. Hezbollah denies hiding weapons among civilians.

Increasing Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon, the Bekaa Valley and the southern suburbs of Beirut have forced some 1.2 million people from their homes since September 23, according to the Lebanese government.

According to the announcement, the closed military areas along the border with Lebanon will now include the areas of Zerait, Shomara, Stula, Natua and Eben Menachem.

Also, after a security assessment, the IDF closed to the public the areas surrounding some towns in northern Israel whose residents were evacuated due to rocket fire from Hezbollah. On Saturday, Israel said militia in Lebanon had fired around 320 rockets and drones into northern Israel.

Tehran bans pagers, walkie-talkies on flights

Iran has banned passengers from carrying pagers and walkie-talkies on all flights, ISNA news agency reported.

The decision came after thousands of pagers and walkie-talkies belonging to the Iran-backed Hezbollah militia exploded in Lebanon and Syria in September.

The new regulation applies to both carry-on and checked baggage, according to a spokesman for Iran's aviation authority, although passengers are still allowed to take their cellphones on board.

"The entry of any electronic communication device, except mobile phones, into flight cabins or ... unaccompanied cargo has been prohibited," ISNA quoted Jafar Yazerlo of Iran's Civil Aviation Organization as saying.

Fifth UN peacekeeper injured in Lebanon, UNIFIL says

The spokesman for the UN peacekeeping force in Lebanon said Israel had asked it to leave its positions in the south of the country, where Israel is facing the Lebanese Hezbollah group. But the UN rejected this suggestion.

They asked us to withdraw "from the position along the blue line (the demarcation line between the two countries), that is up to five kilometers from the blue line," said the spokesperson of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon, Andrea Tenenti , for AFP. But as Tenenti claims, the agreement was to stay in the positions.

The Israeli military said its soldiers targeted what it detected as a threat "within 50 meters of the base", adding that it would continue "to investigate the circumstances of the incident".

Fifth UN peacekeeper wounded in Lebanon on Saturday, UNIFIL says. The incident came 48 hours after four UN peacekeepers were injured during the Israeli offensive.

We remind you that on Thursday, two Indonesian peacekeepers were injured during the Israeli offensive. Also on Friday, two Sri Lankan soldiers serving in the UNIFIL peacekeeping mission were injured after their positions were "repeatedly struck".
